Courchevel is a chalet market with a strict logistical schedule: between December and April, the resort is fully occupied; after that, construction and deliveries take place. If you intend to furnish during winter, you will have missed the window of opportunity.
The Delivery Window is in Summer
From May to November, roads are clear, craftsmen are available, and chalets are vacant. During this period, virtually all work is carried out. Mountain Roads and the Final Turn
The access road to Courchevel 1850 is winding and steeply ascending; within the resort, many access routes are narrow and some are private. Large articulated lorries cannot reach all locations, which necessitates transshipment. For chalets situated on slopes, the path from the road to the door is often a staircase or an inclined lift. This final stage determines the maximum piece size, not the apartment door.
Interior: Wood, Fur, Contrast
As in Gstaad, the space is already defined by wood. Impact is created through contrast: leather, dark metal, stone, and heavy textiles. Seating arrangements are oriented towards the fireplace, candle holders set the mood on the table. Wickerwork should be used sparingly in mountain environments, as the dry air can damage it; please refer to Rattan and Wickerwork.
Dry Air and Snowlight
At 1,850 meters, the same conditions apply as in Engadin: very low relative humidity in heated chalets and high UV exposure due to snow reflection. Humidification protects furniture, and curtains protect fabrics. Both are not luxuries in the Alpine region but prerequisites for an interior to maintain its appearance for years.
