Luxury Furniture Côte d'Azur: Furniture for the French Riviera

Luxury Furniture Côte d'Azur: Möbel für die französische Riviera

From Saint-Tropez to Menton, the distance is approximately 150 kilometers, and along this stretch lie places that could not be more diverse: a large city inhabited year-round, holiday resorts that stand empty in winter, a city-state with its own building regulations, and villa areas where a single plot of land is larger than half a village. Furnishings that are suitable for Nice may be inappropriate for Saint-Tropez. This page explains what unites the region nonetheless and then leads to the individual locations. Casa Luxury delivers to France and Monaco.

What applies to all here: Salt, Sun, Mistral

Three forces act more strongly on this coast than inland, and they are the reason why furnishing mistakes become visible more quickly on the Riviera. Salt in the air attacks metal, even coated metal, and creeps into screw connections and under covers. The sun is high and harsh at midday; light textiles in south-facing rooms visibly bleach over a single season, and dark woods warp. The Mistral carries fine dust across every terrace and overturns furniture that is too light. Practically, this means two things: indoors, do not place seating groups in direct midday sun; outdoors, use only furniture explicitly designated as outdoor-grade, i.e., outdoor sofas and outdoor dining tables with weather-resistant frames and UV-stable covers. Indoor furniture will not survive a summer here, even under a roof.

The Locations and Their Specific Requirements

Nice is the only city on the coast that is inhabited year-round. Furniture here is for everyday use, not just for the season, and the Belle Époque old buildings in the Carré d'Or demand chandeliers and wall mirrors beyond normal dimensions due to their ceiling height.

Monaco is the antithesis: Europe's most expensive real estate, accordingly compact, yet with a high standard of finish. Here, it is not the size of the furniture that matters, but its footprint, which is why side tables and narrowly framed upholstered furniture achieve more than large solitary pieces.

Cannes is divided into the Croisette and the hills: narrow, tall apartments on the promenade versus spacious villas in Californie, the latter with correspondingly long dining tables. A high proportion of properties are rented out temporarily, especially around festivals and congresses.

Antibes presents three challenges in one city: villas on the Cap directly above the water, a dense old town behind the ramparts, and holiday apartments in Juan-les-Pins. In the narrow old town apartments, table lamps contribute more to the ambiance than any ceiling light.

Saint-Tropez is the place where the outdoor area is the main room. Usage is concentrated over a few months, almost entirely outdoors, meaning on outdoor armchairs and outdoor coffee tables rather than in the living room.

Second Home Means: Delivery Without Presence

A large proportion of properties on this coast are not permanently occupied. This is not a minor aspect for furniture delivery but a central question, as a freight shipment requires someone on site to receive, inspect, and sign for it. In practice, this is handled by a caretaker, a property management company, or the supervising interior designer. Please clarify before ordering who this person is and within what timeframe they are available. Secondly: If an apartment is closed for months, textiles and veneers should not overwinter in a closed south-facing apartment. Closing shutters and allowing ventilation is the difference between ten and twenty years of service life.

Delivery and Customs in the Region

  • France is located in our EU zone. Rates are staggered by weight and can be found under Shipping Costs and Delivery Times. No import duties apply; the shopping cart price is the final price.
  • Monaco as well, despite its independent statehood. The Principality belongs to the customs territory of the European Union and is treated like France for VAT purposes. Therefore, no customs fees apply there either. The fact that Monaco is listed separately in our shipping table is a logistical classification, not a customs one.
  • Parcel or Freight Forwarder. Lights, mirrors, and accessories are sent as parcels; large furniture items are sent as freight shipments on pallets with a pre-arranged appointment.
  • Access is almost always the bottleneck. Old towns with bollards, hillside locations with tight turns, waterfront promenades without stopping possibilities, and property gates that a semi-trailer cannot pass through: these are more frequent causes of delivery failures than anything else. We clarify this before the appointment.
  • Plan for the season. Between June and September, deliveries along the entire coast are restricted, plus there are festival, trade fair, and race weeks with road closures. If you wish to furnish by a specific date, please order early.

Shipping to the Côte d'Azur

We deliver to the Côte d'Azur. The price depends on the shipping weight, which for furniture is calculated based on dimensions and packaging. Zone: EU. Prices are gross prices.

Shipment Shipping Costs
Parcel up to 31.5 kg 34.90 €
Freight up to 150 kg 169.90 €
Freight up to 300 kg 210.00 €
Freight up to 600 kg 280.00 €

Freight goods are delivered curbside. This means: to the curb in front of the address, not into the apartment or the designated room. If you require delivery to an upper floor, please arrange this locally; this page explains what needs to be considered.

The complete table with all weight categories can be found under Shipping and Delivery, and delivery times under Delivery Time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there customs duties for deliveries to the Côte d'Azur or Monaco?

No. France is part of the European Union, and Monaco, despite its independent statehood, belongs to the EU customs territory and is treated like France for VAT purposes. The amount shown in the shopping cart is the final price.

Who will accept the delivery if the property is a secondary residence?

A freight shipment must be accepted and signed for on-site. Typically, this is handled by a caretaker, property management company, or the supervising interior designer. Please clarify who will take responsibility and when they are available before placing your order, so we can coordinate the delivery date accordingly.

Which furniture can withstand the coastal climate outdoors?

Only those explicitly designated as outdoor furniture, with weather-resistant frames and UV-stable coverings. Salt also attacks coated metal and creeps under covers; indoor furniture will not last a summer here, even on a covered terrace.
