Bowl Heber

The Met x Eichholtz introduces the Heber Bowl, an exquisite piece of modern decor in natural onyx.

This triple-section bowl translates an ancient symbol of union into a strikingly modern decorative object. It’s as practical as it is beautiful, with two generous compartments and one smaller section in the middle making it ideal for serving, storing small objects, or simply displaying as a sculptural centerpiece on a dining table, coffee table, or console. Carved from cool, luminous natural onyx with a naturally varied grain, no two pieces are exactly alike, ensuring that every bowl is one of a kind.

Inspiration

The Heber Bowl draws on a nephrite jade water vessel in The Met collection. Carved in China during the 18th-century Qing dynasty, the original was a marriage cup with a shape defined by two interlocking rhombuses, symbolizing the union of two souls. It’s an elegant example of Qing imperial jade carving, in which extraordinary technical refinement served as both an artistic and a spiritual expression.
